Mount Buller View

Australia isn’t particularly well-known for its snowy mountains, but Mount Buller provides a place for locals and tourists to flock every winter to hit the slopes and enjoy a different side of Aussie life.

Set just outside of Melbourne, Mount Buller is the most popular snow resort in the country, providing spectacular white-capped views over the surrounding scenery and plenty of fast-paced winter sports opportunities.

The majority of people head to Mount Buller for the slopes, of which there are many. There is a diverse collection of routes, ranging from gentle slopes ideal for beginners or first-time skiers to challenging back-runs best kept for the more experienced boarders. On top of these, there are three separate terrain parks, an ultra cross course, and not one but two toboggan parks.

As well as your usual selection of snow sports, Mount Buller has a menu of alternative activities for visitors to try out. Journey through snow scenes on a dog sled tour, take a leisurely chairlift ride to gaze out at incredible mountain views, or kick back and relax in the spa for some much needed downtime. For the more adventurous, there are helicopter flights over the mountains, night skiing and, for younger members of the family, there is a Gnome adventure and regular film screenings at the local cinema.

In the village at Mount Buller there is plenty to keep you busy. There is a wide range of accommodation, from backpacker-style hostels to luxury apartments and everything in between. Add to that a buzzing selection of bars and tasty restaurants that serve up local and international cuisine, and a number of art galleries and souvenir stores, and you have a mountain town that’s worth spending a day or two in. This winter haven boasts incredible views and an amazing range of things to do to keep every member of the family occupied throughout the whole trip.
